Waters Launches New Software for Lab-Centric Business Intelligence and Enhanced Audit-Readiness

Waters Corporation has introduced waters_connect Data Intelligence, a new cloud-based software that empowers regulated industries to enhance their use of laboratory data. This software simplifies data access, organization, and analysis to drive productivity, especially in labs using Waters’ Empower Chromatography Data System (CDS). By leveraging Empower data, the software enables laboratories to improve audit-readiness and provides lab managers with faster, more informed decision-making capabilities in response to audit inquiries.

“Maintaining data quality and integrity is essential for avoiding costly delays in product releases and regulatory audits,” said Dave Leitham, Waters Corporation’s Vice President of Connected Science. waters_connect Data Intelligence offers real-time insights into lab data, enhancing transparency and supporting audit-readiness through a deeper understanding of operational and scientific data.

Built to integrate seamlessly with Empower CDS, the software provides customizable dashboards for advanced data analysis on parameters like aborted injections and sample sets. This helps laboratories reduce risks associated with negative audit findings and eliminates the need for manual data consolidation. Users typically needing up to two days to respond to audit questions can now rely on waters_connect Data Intelligence for faster, more accurate data retrieval.

Designed for both single and multiple Empower CDS instances, the software also supports long-term data monitoring, offering insights into method, column, and instrument suitability data to help preempt system failures. The estimated cost of system suitability failures for pharma labs is around $600,000 annually, which waters_connect Data Intelligence aims to reduce by improving tracking and analysis of lab trends.

From our initial experience with the software, we value the flexibility it brings to track system usage, column lifespan, and user activity,” said Donny Preiss, Associate Director of IT Lab Applications at MannKind Corporation. “This tool will streamline lab processes, enhance data insights, and enable quicker decision-making.

The waters_connect Data Intelligence software is now available for demonstrations and quotes, with orders beginning in December 2024.
