Exploring NIPPON KINZOKU’s Unique Stainless Steel Grades and Design Innovations

NIPPON KINZOKU CO. has developed an extensive range of high-quality materials and finishes for exterior moldings used by automobile manufacturers in Japan, Europe, and America. This innovation is based on our advanced rolling technology, which allows us to produce thin materials with exceptional surface quality.

Our materials are tailored to suit specific automotive designs and environmental conditions, making them a preferred choice for numerous car manufacturers both domestically and internationally. NIPPON KINZOKU proudly holds a leading market share worldwide.

The materials we provide for automotive exterior moldings are designed for continuous processing directly from coils (steel strips). This approach allows for shared processing dies for forming and pressing across all finishes. Thanks to our rolling technology, these products achieve high design quality without the need for polishing, painting, or other surface treatments like those required for aluminum, thus enhancing efficiency and yield for our customers.

Moreover, NIPPON KINZOKU’s automotive exterior molding materials are recognized as environmentally friendly “eco-products” under our proprietary standards, helping customers minimize their environmental footprint.

Features

1. Original Stainless Steel Grades

  • Our exclusive stainless steel grades, “NK-430MA” and “NK-436L-NB,” are specifically engineered for exterior moldings.
  • Both grades offer corrosion resistance on par with SUS304, a widely used stainless steel standard.
  • With a low nickel content (0.6% or less), these grades are less susceptible to price fluctuations.
  • Compared to aluminum, which is commonly used for exterior moldings in Europe, our stainless steel provides superior corrosion resistance without requiring surface treatments like anodizing, thus lowering environmental impact and production costs.

2. Design Variations (Surface Finishes)

  • The market for automotive exterior moldings is increasingly diverse in terms of colors and designs. NIPPON KINZOKU can offer a wide array of design variations and surface finishes.
  • All finishes can be continuously processed from coils (steel strips) on-site, enabling the use of shared processing dies for forming and pressing. This results in lower initial and processing costs compared to traditional methods like painting or taping.
