Vantage Data Centers Invests $2 Billion in 192MW Campus, Expanding in Ohio’s Data Center Market

Vantage Data Centers, a prominent global provider of hyperscale data center campuses, has announced its entry into the central Ohio data center market to meet the rising demand for scalable and sustainable digital infrastructure. The project represents an investment of over $2 billion and is expected to create more than 1,500 jobs during construction and in long-term operations. This marks Vantage’s seventh North American market in its expanding hyperscale portfolio.

The new campus, named OH1, is located just outside Columbus in New Albany, Ohio, and is Vantage’s first in the Midwest. Covering 70 acres, OH1 will offer a total IT capacity of 192MW across more than 1.5 million square feet, providing secure infrastructure for cloud technologies and artificial intelligence. The first building is scheduled to open in late 2025.

OH1 will adhere to Vantage’s “sustainable by design” blueprint and is set to achieve LEED Silver accreditation. This campus aligns with the company’s commitment to reach net zero operational carbon emissions by 2030 across its global portfolio.

Dana Adams, President of North America at Vantage Data Centers, expressed excitement about expanding into Ohio, noting the strategic importance of the market for their hyperscale customers. He emphasized the company’s appreciation for the support received from local business, government, and community leaders, and highlighted the investment’s potential to strengthen the state’s economy and enhance its reputation as a technology and innovation hub.

In conjunction with its Ohio expansion, Vantage is launching partnerships with the New Albany Community Foundation and the Columbus State Community College Foundation, including the establishment of an accelerated training center in New Albany. These partnerships aim to support workforce development, enhancing local educational initiatives and addressing critical community needs in areas such as health and housing affordability.

To commemorate the groundbreaking of the new campus, Vantage held a celebratory ceremony attended by key representatives from Vantage, the general contractor Turner Construction, and local organizations.

New Albany Mayor Sloan Spalding welcomed Vantage Data Centers to the community, praising their commitment to operational excellence and environmental sustainability, and expressing optimism for a long-lasting partnership.

Dave Brewster, Managing Director at JobsOhio, noted that Vantage’s arrival underscores the region’s evolving technological landscape and the increasing need for robust digital infrastructure. He anticipates positive impacts on the local economy through job creation and community engagement.
