IEEE SA Gains SCC Accreditation for Canadian Standards

IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA), a global leader in standards development, has announced its accreditation by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). This new collaboration will enable IEEE SA to work with SCC to deliver global standards and solutions tailored to the needs of Canadian stakeholders, including customers, organizations, and policymakers.

The SCC’s accreditation underscores the reliability of IEEE’s global standards and the robust processes behind their development. As an accredited SDO, IEEE SA is now authorized to propose its standards for adoption as National Standards of Canada. These standards are crucial for ensuring technology operates safely, securely, and sustainably. IEEE SA’s extensive history includes contributions to technological innovation, interoperability, and market expansion.

Alpesh Shah, Managing Director of IEEE SA, remarked, “This accreditation reflects the trust placed in us and our standards. We are committed to upholding this trust and supporting SCC’s mission to enhance the quality of life in Canada through effective standardization.”

Elias Rafoul, SCC Vice-President of Accreditation Services, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership, noting that IEEE SA’s expertise in areas such as autonomous systems, connectivity, and healthcare will greatly benefit Canada’s standardization efforts.

Jim Matthews, President of IEEE SA, highlighted the alignment between IEEE SA and SCC’s commitment to innovation and addressing global challenges. “This collaboration will advance both organizations’ goals and support stakeholders in Canada and beyond.”

Chantal Guay, CEO of SCC, added, “We are thrilled to welcome IEEE SA into our network. Their inclusion strengthens our system of standards, benefiting industry, government, and consumers.
