U.S. Students Acquire Practical Skills at Tenaris in Argentina

Two young professionals from the U.S. recently completed a work experience at Siderca, Tenaris’s seamless steel pipe manufacturing facility in Campana, Argentina. This opportunity was part of an international internship program that connects the two countries, organized by companies in the oil and gas sector with support from the Argentine Institute of Oil and Gas (IAPG).

Benjamin Bridges, a Rice University graduate from North Carolina, spent two months working with the technology team at the rolling mill. His project involved developing control bands in the manufacturing process for each of Tenaris’s products. “These control bands act as quality guides, which are a key differentiator for us as a company. This experience allowed me to understand how a large corporation like Tenaris operates and how to collaborate effectively in dynamic teams,” said Benjamin.

Ashley Velázquez, from the University of Houston, was no stranger to the energy sector, having previously interned at Aramco. However, her time at Tenaris gave her deeper insight into the industry’s operations. “I felt very welcomed by my team. They guided me, showed me the mill, and ensured that I learned something new every day and contributed meaningfully to the company,” said Ashley, an industrial engineer.

Ashley worked on several projects during her time at Tenaris, showcasing her ability to multitask. “I’ve had the chance to understand how different areas of a business operate, and I’ve found that continuous improvement and logistics are my favorite aspects. That’s why I’m interested in the Tenaris Global Trainee program, which allows you to rotate through different sectors and gain a comprehensive view of the company,” she added.

The internship program, led by Pan American Energy, aims to strengthen the link between universities and industry by facilitating the exchange of professional knowledge and experiences. This edition featured 27 students from prestigious U.S. universities, selected from over 600 applicants. Alongside Tenaris, other participating companies included CGC, Techint Engineering & Construction, Honeywell Argentina, Tecpetrol, and Molinos Agro.
