Landon Loomis, President of Boeing for Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as Vice President of Global Policy, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are thrilled to participate in FIDAE once again. Boeing boasts around 700 commercial jets in service across Latin America, offering a comprehensive suite of products and services renowned for flexibility, reliability, and efficiency. Notably, the Arajet 737 MAX will be on static display at FIDAE. Looking ahead, Boeing forecasts a demand for 2,105 new commercial airplanes in Latin America and the Caribbean over the next two decades, stimulating a need for 128,000 new pilots, cabin crew, and aerospace technicians.
In the defense realm, Boeing has been an integral part of Latin America since 1932, when it delivered the first F4B-4 fighter aircraft to the Brazilian Armed Forces. Over the years, Boeing has provided VIP aircraft, defense systems, satellites, and UAVs to militaries across the region. At FIDAE, Boeing’s exhibit will showcase notable offerings such as the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft, T-7A Advanced Pilot Training System, CH-47 Chinook helicopter, and ScanEagle unmanned aerial system.
Beyond aerospace, Boeing is committed to supporting education initiatives aimed at inspiring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers. This includes backing programs like the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) to enhance student performance and teacher development.
Boeing will also participate in the IATA’s Wings of Change conference on April 10-11 at the Sheraton Santiago Hotel & Convention Center in Santiago. Loomis will contribute to the panel discussion titled “Joint Industry and Government Vision: How can aviation in Latin America reach Net Zero in a sustainable way?” while Otávio Cavalett, Global Sustainability Policy and Partnerships regional lead for Latin America, will join the panel discussing “New technologies and emerging efforts to support aviation decarbonization.”
