Nextpower Arabia to Deliver 2.25 GW of Smart Solar Trackers for Bisha Solar Project

Nextpower Arabia Secures Landmark Supply Agreement for Bisha Solar Project

Nextpower Arabia, the newly established joint venture between Nextpower (Nasdaq: NXT, formerly Nextracker) and Abunayyan Holding, announced it will supply 2.25 gigawatts (GWp) of advanced smart solar tracking systems to Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the Bisha Solar project, one of the largest utility-scale solar plants being developed by an ACWA Power-led consortium and procured by the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) under Wave 6 of Saudi Arabia’s National Renewable Energy Program overseen by the Ministry of Energy.

Strategic Importance of the Bisha Solar Development

Located in Saudi Arabia’s Asir Province, the Bisha Solar project is the largest initiative within the Wave 6 program and represents a major expansion of the Kingdom’s utility-scale renewable energy portfolio, directly supporting Saudi Arabia’s long-term energy diversification and decarbonization objectives.

First Major Project for the Nextpower Arabia Joint Venture

The 2.25 GWp Bisha Solar order marks the first major project to be delivered through the Nextpower Arabia joint venture, which is now fully operational and positioned to play a key role in accelerating renewable energy deployment across the region.

Localized Manufacturing and Regional Supply Chain Development

Through localized sales, manufacturing, delivery, and supply chain capabilities, Nextpower Arabia will enable efficient deployment of utility-scale solar power plants while advancing industrial development, workforce growth, and supply chain resilience across the Middle East and North Africa region.

L&T Perspective on Performance and Localization Benefits

Bharathi Kumar, General Manager of Renewable International at L&T, stated that the company has strong confidence in Nextpower Arabia to deliver advanced utility-grade solar solutions capable of maximizing performance and delivering low-cost clean energy over the long term, while emphasizing that localized production will improve project efficiency and reduce both international shipping costs and environmental impact.

Nextpower Leadership on Regional Strategy

Dan Shugar, Founder and CEO of Nextpower, said the MENA region represents a top strategic priority for the company, noting that the Bisha project builds on longstanding partnerships with ACWA Power and L&T while serving as a major milestone for the joint venture with Abunayyan Holding by localizing resilient and intelligent solar technologies engineered for the region’s demanding conditions.

Advancing Saudi Arabia’s Industrial and Energy Transition Goals

Turki Al-Amri, Chairman and CEO of Nextpower Arabia and CEO of Abunayyan Holding, stated that the Bisha project will play a significant role in advancing national and regional renewable energy transformation goals, while local manufacturing of Nextpower Arabia systems in the Kingdom will support Saudi Arabia’s industrialization strategy and deliver broad benefits across the localized solar supply chain.

Broader Renewable Investment Across the Kingdom

Earlier this year, ACWA Power, together with Water and Electricity Holding Company (Badeel) and Saudi Aramco Power Company (SAPCO), announced plans to invest USD 8.3 billion in the development of seven large-scale renewable energy plants that will add approximately 15 GW of new renewable capacity to Saudi Arabia’s power grid.

Nextpower’s Track Record in Utility-Scale Solar

Nextpower brings a strong history of supporting major utility-scale solar developments in the region, beginning with the 405 MW Sakaka Solar Park in Saudi Arabia in 2018 and expanding to more than 6 GW of deployed capacity across the Middle East and North Africa.
