Textron Aviation Expands Connectivity Options for Cessna Citation Latitude with Starlink High-Speed Internet
Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. company, has announced a significant enhancement for operators of its popular Cessna Citation Latitude business jet. Following the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) issuance of AeroMech’s Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the installation of Starlink’s high-speed internet service, customers will now be able to upgrade their Latitude aircraft with one of the most advanced in-flight connectivity solutions available.
This development marks another milestone in Textron Aviation’s efforts to improve the passenger experience and ensure that business jet travelers remain connected no matter where their missions take them. By utilizing Starlink’s constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, operators will have access to more reliable internet service not only over populated regions but also across oceans, remote landscapes, and underserved areas where traditional in-flight Wi-Fi solutions often struggle to deliver.
A New Era of Connectivity for Business Aviation
Starlink, engineered and operated by SpaceX, has quickly become a game changer in the field of broadband communications. Unlike geostationary satellite systems, which operate at much higher altitudes and often result in slower speeds and greater latency, Starlink’s LEO network ensures fast, stable, and low-latency connections. This makes it suitable for bandwidth-heavy applications such as video conferencing, streaming, and cloud-based collaboration—all of which are becoming increasingly vital for today’s business travelers.
“With Starlink connectivity now available as an upgrade, Citation Latitude customers can enjoy a seamless, high-speed in-flight experience that keeps them connected in more of the places they fly,” explained Brian Rohloff, senior vice president of Customer Support at Textron Aviation. “This enhancement reflects our commitment to innovation and elevates the Latitude’s reputation as the world’s most-delivered midsize business jet, renowned for its exceptional performance and cabin comfort.”
Installation and Technical Details
Textron Aviation confirmed that customers can schedule the Starlink system installation at its company-owned Service Centers across North America as well as at its International Service Centers. The modification relies on AeroMech’s STC approval, which paves the way for a standardized and streamlined integration process.
The installation kit includes a Starlink Aero Terminal (antenna), a Power Supply Unit (PSU), Wireless Access Points (WAPs), and necessary harnessing. Notably, the system requires only electrical power input from the aircraft, making it a relatively straightforward upgrade that does not demand extensive structural modifications.
Once installed, passengers aboard the Citation Latitude will have access to high-speed Wi-Fi that supports multiple simultaneous users, enabling business teams, families, or individual travelers to remain productive and entertained throughout the flight.
