Honda Showcases Innovative Mobility as Official Vehicle Partner of World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has announced a comprehensive lineup of official vehicles and mobility solutions that will support the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 (WCH Tokyo 25). As an official global partner of the event, Honda will play a central role in ensuring smooth operations, safe transportation, and an environmentally responsible experience during one of the world’s premier sporting events, scheduled for September 13–21, 2025.

A Commitment to Sustainability and Innovation

Honda’s participation in WCH Tokyo 25 is guided by the event’s theme: “Maximizing the excitement and inspiration from the athletes’ great performance, through the realization of an environmentally-responsible and safe event by providing a wide variety of mobility products equipped with innovative technologies.” Reflecting this vision, Honda will provide approximately 120 official vehicles, most of which are environmentally friendly fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs), and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).

Each official vehicle will feature a distinctive wrap designed exclusively for WCH Tokyo 25, highlighting both the prestige of the event and Honda’s role in bringing advanced mobility solutions to the global stage.

Official Vehicles for Marathon and Race Support

Among the standout vehicles in Honda’s fleet is the , which will serve as the Chief Judge’s vehicle during the men’s and women’s marathon races. Supporting precision timing, the —a commercial-use mini-EV—will be equipped with Seiko timing systems and act as the official timing vehicle.

Honda is also introducing portable external power output devices, the and . These devices will draw electricity from the N-VAN e: and supply power to mat antennas positioned every five kilometers along the marathon route, ensuring accurate split-time measurements for runners.

Additionally, the highly anticipated all-new specialty sports model and the all-new mini-EV will act as course-check vehicles. Both vehicles, scheduled to go on sale in fall 2025, will ensure the marathon routes are secure ahead of each race.

To capture the dynamic performances of athletes, Honda will deploy the , an electric personal commuter powered by the swappable Honda Mobile Power Pack e:. These vehicles will serve as camera bikes, allowing broadcasters to film runners up close throughout the competition.

Transportation for Participants and Officials

Beyond race operations, Honda is also responsible for transporting WCH Tokyo 25 participants and officials. The lineup includes the CR-V e:FCEV alongside several advanced hybrid models such as the , , and . These vehicles will help reduce the event’s carbon footprint while ensuring reliable, comfortable transport.

Enhancing Event Operations with Next-Generation Mobility

To support staff mobility and reduce physical strain, Honda will provide the —a hands-free seated personal mobility device controlled through intuitive body movements. This cutting-edge technology represents Honda’s commitment to accessible, human-centered innovation.

For the first time in the history of the World Athletics Championships, Honda will also introduce a vehicle exhibit inside the stadium. The Japan National Stadium will host the , a next-generation model slated for a North American debut in 2026, with global sales to follow.

Honda has also developed a 1/4 scale radio-controlled model of the 0 SUV Prototype specifically for WCH Tokyo 25. This RC car will be used during javelin, hammer, and discus events to retrieve implements efficiently, reducing staff workload and improving event flow.

Engaging Fans and Visitors with Immersive Exhibits

Outside the competition venues, Honda will showcase its mobility technologies in a special exhibit space near the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Visitors will enjoy immersive backgrounds and visual effects that create the illusion of vehicles in motion, making the area a prime photo opportunity.

The exhibits will include the CUV e:, the police motorcycle version of the , and the UNI-ONE, all presented with the WCH Tokyo 25 special wrap. These interactive displays are designed to deepen fans’ connection to the championships while allowing them to experience Honda’s mobility innovations firsthand.

The World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 will take place from September 13 to 21, 2025, primarily at the Japan National Stadium.
