Motorcar Parts of America Appoints New General Counsel Amid Executive Transition and Expands Government Affairs Role

Motorcar Parts of America, Inc. (Nasdaq: MPAA), a leading manufacturer, remanufacturer, and distributor of automotive aftermarket parts, has announced a strategic realignment in its executive leadership. The company revealed that its General Counsel, Juliet Stone, will be transitioning to a newly established role — Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Special Projects — while Glenn Burlingame has been appointed as Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of the company.

The announcement reflects Motorcar Parts of America’s continued commitment to strengthening its internal leadership, aligning legal expertise with corporate growth objectives, and reinforcing its position in an increasingly complex geopolitical and regulatory landscape.

Juliet Stone’s Transition to a Strategic Government Affairs Role

Juliet Stone has served as General Counsel with distinction, contributing significantly to the company’s legal, regulatory, and compliance framework. In her new role as Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Special Projects, she will spearhead the company’s efforts in navigating evolving government regulations, industry standards, and geopolitical developments that may impact the business.

This newly created position comes at a time when legislative and trade developments — both domestically and internationally — are playing an increasingly critical role in shaping strategic decision-making for global supply chain-dependent companies. Stone’s legal acumen, deep institutional knowledge, and experience in corporate governance will position her to influence key initiatives that intersect with public policy, sustainability, trade compliance, and environmental standards.

Selwyn Joffe, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Motorcar Parts of America, emphasized the importance of this transition:

We appreciate Juliet’s contributions to the company during her tenure as General Counsel. Her new position is particularly important given the geopolitical environment and its impact on business, and we look forward to her continued contributions to the company in this vital capacity.”

Stone will also be involved in coordinating special projects across departments, supporting cross-functional initiatives, and ensuring that the company remains agile and proactive in addressing regulatory challenges.

Glenn Burlingame Joins as General Counsel and Secretary

Stepping into the role of General Counsel is Glenn Burlingame, a seasoned legal professional with more than three decades of experience advising corporate clients on a wide array of legal matters. Burlingame will be responsible for overseeing all legal affairs of Motorcar Parts of America, including corporate governance, securities compliance, legal risk management, and transactional activities.

Burlingame, 64, brings a distinguished track record from the private sector. Most recently, he served as a partner in the Corporate and Securities Department at Sichenzia Ross Ference Carmel LLP, a prominent New York-based law firm. His work at the firm focused on guiding clients through complex corporate transactions, regulatory filings, securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance compliance.

Before joining Sichenzia Ross, Burlingame was a long-time partner at Zeicher Ellman & Krause LLP, where he spent 12 years in the firm’s Corporate, Commercial, and Securities Law group. Earlier in his career, he practiced at the esteemed law firm Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, where he began his professional journey as an associate in the Corporate Department.

He holds a Juris Doctor degree from New York University School of Law, one of the nation’s most respected legal institutions, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Houghton University.

According to Joffe, Burlingame’s appointment is not only a reflection of his legal credentials but also of his long-standing relationship with the company:

Glenn’s extensive corporate experience and his knowledge of the company, having served as outside legal counsel for many years, enables the company to benefit from his expertise immediately,” said Joffe. “His understanding of our business operations, risk profile, and compliance environment makes him an ideal fit for this position.”

Strategic Implications and Forward Outlook

This transition comes at a time when Motorcar Parts of America is navigating a rapidly changing global marketplace. From supply chain disruptions and increased environmental regulations to greater scrutiny of corporate governance and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting, companies in the automotive aftermarket sector face new challenges that require proactive leadership and strategic foresight.

The creation of a specialized government affairs position signals the company’s recognition of the need to be more engaged in policy advocacy, regulatory negotiations, and strategic partnerships. Stone’s shift into this role is expected to facilitate stronger relationships with government agencies, industry associations, and international trade stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Burlingame’s internal appointment ensures continuity and immediate impact. Given his familiarity with Motorcar Parts of America’s corporate structure and strategic goals, the company anticipates a seamless legal transition that reinforces operational efficiency and risk mitigation.
